Vicky Chow “A O R T A” Pitchfork Review

6dxjo5o0

Pitchfork review is in for Vicky Chow’s A O R T A! Very honored that my piece “Rave” was selected as a featured track in the review, with Seth Colter Walls writing:

Another winner is Molly Joyce’s “Rave.” The work starts out sounding anything but exultant, sporting motifs that seem emotionally mismatched. (In the score, Joyce’s description of a tempo as “controlled but on the edge” seems appropriate.) As the composition develops, Joyce’s lines achieve an odd syncopation, and ultimately a sense of balance strong enough to suggest a club-influenced feel.

ON BEHALF Fundraising Campaign

Excited to be a part of “ON BEHALF,” a commissioning initiative from pianist Brianna Matzke and violinist Hajnal Kármán Pivnick that asks composers to write a piece of music in response to a pre-existing work or idea. I’ll be writing “on behalf” of disability, and the seven new works commissioned by the project will be premiered at Tribeca New Music Festival in New York City and Cincinnati’s Contemporary Art Center Black Box Theater in March 2017. Check out the fundraising campaign here.

“Glow” Publishing

Super honored to have my first published work, Glow, included in the National Collegiate Choral Organization’s Choral Series at Canticle Publishing. The work was written in collaboration with writer Caitlin Kenzie Scott, and is now available for purchase here.
